Home Media/File Server
This is a guide following my personal project to setup my old PC as a standalone Media, File Server and Download manager. It is based on GNU/Linux and specifically on the Ubuntu Server edition and it is something anyone can do to put to good use an old machine and allow them to have an awesome experience in watching movies, easy to share files among PC and devices on the network and a centralized, always-on, multi-protocol way to download new stuff.
The articles are in a form which should make it easy to setup only the parts you need, so if you don’t care to use the download centre, you can avoid that part of the setup.
Note: These guides are made for those who are a bit familiar with PCs and installing operating systems. If you’re not, I’ve linked to some more in-depth guides but you may need someone knowledgeable to help you.
