Lost categories
Ok, I think I know what has happened with the upgrade to 2.3. Apparently, my wp_categories table has been renamed to wp_terms and nobody bothered to update the WP knowledge base about this little fact (at least not yesterday that I was looking for it). Good job![1]
I guess something like that must have happened since I was looking at my MySQL tables and I got a bit panicked when I noticed my wp_category and wp_post2category tables missing. I upgraded another WP installation I have for testing and noticed the change.
Now, for my problem with the “Zoulapia” error (which is part of my modified theme), I’ve managed to find the solution myself. I just needed to change the following in the function call.
("SELECT cat_ID FROM " . $wpdb->categories . " WHERE cat_name='" . $hemingwayEx_options['asides_category'] . "'")
to
("SELECT term_ID FROM " . $wpdb->terms . " WHERE name='" . $hemingwayEx_options['asides_category'] . "'")
And you can see it worked 🙂
Now I need to find out how to modify the popularity contest plugin so that it can search in the correct table when taking the popular category :-/
Oh, also the 2.3 feature that supposedly would use the previous tags you had, did not work. UTW has a (apparently) scary function to import them to [tag]Wordpress[/tag] db, but I’d rather wait a bit for that.

I just updated my WP installation and things did not seem to go that well this time 🙁
You will probably be able to see that something is wrong as the new installation seems to have changed the WP categories table name and now one of my plugins that depended on that as well as a feature from my theme stopped working. Now I need to figure out in which way to fix it 🙁 Probably that will mean editing the relevant plugin and modifying the table it is looking for :-/
Oh well, at least it seems to have some shiny new features (like the notification for updates). It supposedly supports tags by itself (even using the old tags I had) so, supposedly I won’t have to use to UTW plugin anymore and this post is a relevant test to that as well. However the tag functionality does not seem as good as UTW’s (missing the list of tags etc) so it remains to be seen if it is workable.
I was initially a bit wary of the new version because of what I read it transmits to the WP servers when checking for updates, but this time I decided to leave my tinfoil hat on the side and go ahead. Seeing the results, perhaps I should have waited until the plugins were updated accordingly.
Some borrowed stuff
I finally registered on StudiVZ after the prompt of Viola and checking out the photos of Wacken I found quite a few of them that I just had to have for myself. I tried to download them but StudiVZ has a very stupid idea to stop people from downloading, by redirecting the actual file link to an empty .gif file. However this cannot obviously stop anything, but rather delay and annoy me. I just printed the screen, pasted it into GIMP and cut the part that was of interest. Of course that meant that the picture was only as large as StudiVZ’s small window, but it’s better than nothing. To this end I’ve created a new dandy album with all of those for you to admire me once again 😉
Some of the best pictures were taken by Anton who just took one amazing Firebreath pic of me in my last show, among others. I just can’t believe how good this looks :D. I guess that’s what happens when the photographer is a professional.
He also has some newer ones uploaded from the recent BBQ but I’ve still to…borrow those 😉

I also saw some more cool ones taken at the Final Destination as well at the [tag]Wacken[/tag] Warm-up party and I just could not resist making a copy for me. Some of them are just so well shot 😀

US Fascism rising
It still amazes me how American can stay so oblivious to the Fascist regime that is slowly taking over their country. To many Europeans who took even a bit of time to study the history of the previous century, this is brighter than the sun. All my new German friends have told me until now how they would never go to live in the US and I can perfectly understand that sentiment. Who would want to go and live in a Christianofascist regime?
But every time I visit the Digg or any other site where the percentage of US Americans patrons is large, on all political articles that are against the neo-fascist cons, there will be quite a few conservatives foaming at the mouth on how exagerated this whole thing is. Always!
As an outsider, I’m actually quite interested to see if how history will repeat itself. What “National emergency” will this, or the next goverment use to declare Martial law and start encarcerating Journalists and academics and doubly interested in seeing how will the internet be treated in all of this.
The funny thing is how much the new regime will be backed up by the corporate interests this time. It will certainly feed upon the populace instead of the neighbourghing countries as the Fascists and Nazis of last century did, as they will force them to become obedient little consumers. I’m guessing that the new Opium of choice will not be sports so much as rather Video games like addictive MMORPGS and such as they seem to be doing quite an excellent job in keeping people’s mind off politics.
It also saddens me to a degree. US, which started out as an excellent experiment in freedom has turned into a big clusterfuck of religion and capitalism. I would love to see an America leading the way in human rights and freedom and all the other stuff that most US residents are still deluding themselves that they do, but unfortunately they seem be be going down the drain at astonishing speed. I only hope that after they go down, they don’t take the rest of us with them in a last ditch effort to bring about the rapture (that will of course chose the rich neofascist-cons who crave for it)

Γαμώτω πως να μην τσαντιστώ απίστευτα τώρα.
Σήμερα αναγκάστηκα να κλείσω το unofficial information dump που είχα στήσει για την ECB όταν ένα email που έστειλα ξαφνικά βρέθηκε στα χέρια ενώς manager (Συγκεκριμένα, της Marjut ) η οποία έστειλε ένα μήνυμα στο Mike για να το κατεβάσω γιατί φρίκαρε οτι θα το έβλεπε όλως ο κόσμος. Αυτό με κάποιο τρόπο έφτασε στα χέρια του HansJacob ο οποίος κάλεσε τους Team Leaders (Mike & Scott) για να τους ρωτήσει τι εστί βερύκοκο. Μετά απο αυτό ο Mike ήρθε και μου είπε οτι καλύτερα είναι να το ξηλώσω όλο γιατί δεν ξέρει ακριβώς τι θα συμβεί και ο HJ θέλει μια λίστα απο τις σελίδες που είχα ανεβάσει για να δουν τι ρίσκο υπήρχε.
Φυσικά και δεν υπήρχε ρίσκο μιάς και δεν είχα ανεβάσει ούτε μισό κωδικό αλλά άντε να τους το εξηγήσεις αυτό.
Κατέβασα την σελίδα. Έκλεισα το domain και άλλαξα τοπόθεσία στον κεντρικό φάκελο για να είμαι σίγουρος. Η ψυχή μου πήγε στην κούλουρη αλλά ευτυχώς ο HJ φάνηκε να μην έχει πρόβλημα με αυτά που είχα ανεβάσει και μάλλον το θέμα πέθανε εκεί.
Ελπίζω να μην ξαναβγεί σαν ζόμπι για να με κυνηγήσει…
Αλλά γαμώ το κέρατο μου το τράγιο, ποιο αρχιδάκι σκέφτηκε οτί θα ήταν καλή ιδέα να το στείλει στο Management…Ο απίστευτος ηλίθιος ο Kiefer…τι να πω…

Μπράβο για ακόμη μια φορά θύματα, κορόϊδα έλληνες (με μικρό “ε”). Καταφέρατε να ξαναγβάλετε κυβέρνηση αυτούς που μέσα σε 3 χρόνια σας πήγανε 20 πίσω (δηλαδή τώρα πια, μετά τα 20 πίσω του ΠΑΣΟΚ, ζείτε στο 1967. Άλλη μια τέτοια ωραία, μαζί με τα φασισταριά του Καρατζαφέρη, και θα έχετε την Χούντα που τόσο φαίνεται να πωθείτε)
Πολύ χαίρομαι που δεν ζω πια μαζί σας ξεφτιλισμένοι κακομοίρηδες γιατί θα έκλαιγα την μοίρα μου να έχω συμπολίτες που είναι πολύ χαρούμενοι να καταστρέψουν ότι κερδίθηκε με κόπο από τους προηγούμενους ώστε να μπορέσει το παιδάκι τους να έχει καμία συμβασούλα (του κώλου).

Facebook, bitches!
So here I am in Facebook now. I was never much into social sites (I pretty much loath Yourspace) and I don’t know how much this fad will last me but I’ve created a little profile and started enriching it with pics and vids and group memberships and shit.
Initially it all was so that I could help out with the Non-christian group but then I decided to start an ACP group as well and things went quickly downhill from there. Now I’m at the point where I’m spamming all my friends to join so that I can tag their faces with their name 😉
Even this post is a tribute to this monster of lost time as I’m actually trying to see if my wordbook plugin is working since it decided to make my life a bit difficult by not being configured as a good little plugin.
Anyway, y’all come and join now and then add me as a friend. I’ve got pictures with your ugly mugs around that I need to classify. If you are already there and are using nifty application, let me know of any good ones that I might like. Cheers!
